She was born on Aug. 6, 1923 in Shelby, daughter of the late Charles and Etta Harrill Cordell.
After graduating from Asheville Business College, Mrs. Cook went to work for the F.B.I. in Washington, D.C. She then returned to Shelby where she met and married George S. Cook.
Together they moved to Charlotte where Mrs. Cook owned and operated a beauty shop.
Mrs. Cook loved the outdoors, feeding and watching birds, gardening and giving the neighborhood dogs treats. She also loved to read and do word search puzzles.
Mrs. Cook also loved her church, Pritchard Memorial Baptist. She was an active member for more than 50 years.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cook is preceded in death by her husband, George S. Cook Sr.
She is survived by her four children; Glenda Jennings and her husband, Roger of Summerville, SC, Sherry Ward and her husband, Tom of Matthews, George S. Cook Jr. of Indian Trail, and Lynn Wolper of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to Martha Walker, Denise Clayton, White Oak Manor Nursing Home and Elmcroft Assisted Living for all of their loving care.
