Eliza T. Cordeiro, 86, formerly of Garfield Avenue, Attleboro, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan 31, 2010 in the Life Care Center of Attleboro. She was the beloved wife of the late Antone Cordeiro.
Born Eliza T. Aveiro in Attleboro on Mar 27, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Evaristo P. and Christina (Sousa) Aveiro. Eliza was educated in the Attleboro public schools.
She worked as a jewelry inspector at the General Findings Company in Attleboro for 25 years, retiring in 1986. She later worked part time at Elbe Coating Company in North Attleboro for 13 years as a set up operator until December of 2000. Eliza was a resident of Attleboro for over 30 years, previously living in Taunton for 23 years. She was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, in Attleboro.
Eliza is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Manuel Aveiro, Joseph Aveiro, Alfred Aveiro, Mary Constance Aguiar and Lena Viera.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, Feb. 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., Attleboro. A funeral will be conducted on Thursday, Feb. 4 at 8 a.m. from the Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St., Attleboro, celebrated by the Rev. Richard Roy, pastor. Mrs. Cordeiro will be laid to rest with her late husband Antone in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Taunton.
