DANVILLE - Ann Corbin Chaney, 75, of 735 Audubon Drive, Danville died suddenly Saturday August 9, 2008 in Danville Regional Medical Center after a decline in health for the past two weeks.
Mrs. Chaney was born in Danville on November 11, 1932 a daughter of the late Linwood "Jack" Corbin and Gracie Moore Corbin. She had lived all of her life in Danville where she was a graduate of George Washington High School and also a graduate of Danville Community College Class of 1982. Mrs. Chaney was a homemaker and for several years she had worked as a self-employed bookkeeper who worked from her home. She was a faithful member of Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church for her entire life. She was active with the Women's Circle # 3 and she was a former Treasurer for the Missions Board, a former member of the choir, a former Sunday school teacher, former President of the Women's Fellowship, former member of the Historical Committee and a former member of the Women's Circle # 10. On October 15, 1955 she married the late Elbert A. Chaney who died on November 16, 2004.
Mrs. Chaney is survived by one daughter Julie C. Garner and husband Brad of Mayodan, NC, three sons Scott C. Chaney and wife Patricia of Danville, Mark A. Chaney of Danville and Michael A. Chaney and wife Larissa Kirschner-Chaney of New York, nine grandchildren Melody Chaney, Corey Chaney, Amanda Chaney, Christopher Chaney, Ashley Chaney, Kyle Patterson, Kelly Patterson, Corbin Chaney and Cody Garner.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. from Third Avenue Congregational Christian Church by the Reverend Fredrick J. Vicks. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park. The family will receive friends at Third Avenue Congregational Church on Monday night, August 11, 2008 from 7:00 to 8:30p.m. and at other times they will be at the residence 735 Audubon Drive. Wrenn-Yeatts Funeral Homes and Cremation Services North Main Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
