The sister of a Chesterton resident, Caryl C “Evelyn” Coppes, of Goshen, formerly of Nappanee, died Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Goshen General Hospital. She was 84.
She was born Oct 30, 1919 in Glyndon, Minn, the daughter of Frank B and Carma J (Carroll) Coppes, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by a brother, Carroll (Dolly) Coppes of Chesterton; two sisters, Thelma Grim of Ligonier and Loleta (Dean) Campbell of Elkhart and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Dan Coppes and Charles Coppes and four sisters, Mary Jones, Esther Hopper, Mabel Davis and Bertha Kring.
She was a 1939 graduate of Wakarusa High School. She was employed as an assistant to Dr James Zimmerman for 32 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
A funeral service, Rev Terry Tyler officiating, will be at 10:30 am, Wednesday, March 17 at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home. Interment will be at South Union Cemetery.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday at Thompson-Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N Main St, Nappanee.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church.
