Amanda E. Copper, age 90, of Irene, South Dakota, died Sunday, June 1, 2003, at Avera Sunset Manor, Irene. Amanda was born October 24, 1912, at Nodine, Minnesota, to Fred and Minnie (Tueschling) Jacob.
She was educated in both church and school in the Nodine area. On December 12, 1931, she married Fay A. Copper in the Lutheran Church at Nodine.
Fay worked for the Fish and Wildlife Service and they moved around to several locations. These locations included La Crosse, Fairport, Iowa, Valley City, North Dakota, Rochester, Indiana, and finally Prairie du Chien, where they retired.
They spent their winters in Harlingen, Texas. Fay preceded her in death on December 6, 1988. Amanda moved to South Dakota in 1992.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Shirlee Copper of Irene; George and Jean Copper of Bremerton, Washington, Jerry and Linda Copper of Bloomington, Indiana, and Donald and Sharon Copper of LaFarge, Wisconsin; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, Arnold and Bea Jacob of Winona, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and three sisters.
A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 7, at the Ferryville Cemetery, Ferryville, Wisconsin, with Reverend Douglas L. Mathison officiating.
