| Birth: | May 25, 1921 | | Death: | Dec. 2, 2003 |  Matilda Copper (Tillie) Clark, 82, of the Mayflower, Lexington, formerly of Clifton Forge, Virginia, died, Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at the Stonewall Jackson Hospital.
She was born on May 25, 1921 in Rockbridge County, the daughter of the late Harry Samuel and Nora Rose Copper. She was a retired nurse's aid from the C&O Hospital, a member of the Clifton Forge Presbyterian Church, United Daughters of the Confederacy, James S. A. Crawford Chapter, the Clifton Forge Woman's Club, a volunteer at the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center and as an Avon Sales representative for 27 years.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Nell and Donald Wilson of Clarksville, Virginia; five sons and four daughters-in-law: George William and Joyce Clark of Covington, Virginia; Harry James and Millie Clark of Clifton Forge, Virginia; Robert Alan and Barbara Clark of Clarksville, Virginia; David Copper and Susan Clark of Goshen, Virginia; Virginia and Basil Joe Clark of Lovingston, Virginia; one sister, Joyce Lawler of Clifton Forge, Virginia; two sisters-in-law: Christine Copper of Elijay, Georgia and Opal C. Hinkle of Goshen, Va.; 14 grandchildren nine great grandchildren; a special nephew, Kendall Hamilton; and two special nieces: Virginia Miller and Linda Heizman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Clark; one brother, Harry S. Copper, Jr.; and one sister, Mary Wyatt Hamilton.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2003 at 11 a.m. from the chapel of the Nicely Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery, Goshen, Virginia. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
