Clinton MO - Mrs. J. W. Coppage Stricken With Paralysis Monday Evening. - On Tuesday the sad news of the death of Mrs. J. W. Coppage of near Hickory Grove, was spread over the community. She was born in August 1847 and died Tuesday morning, November 14, at 1:30 p.m., being 64 years and about 4 months of age. On Monday Mrs. Coppage helped do a large washing, and at the supper table that evening complained of feeling sick and continued to grow worse until 7:30 when she was stricken with paralysis. She lingered until 1:30 Tuesday morning when the final summons came. Her husband and nine children survive; thirteen children having been born to this union; also one brother, Ed Avery and one sister, Mrs. M. F. Finks to mourn the loss of a loved one who has always been a kind and esteemed friend to all who knew her. The funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 by Rev. Lawrence Orr at the family home near Hickory Grove. A large crowd of sorrowing friends had gathered there to pay their last tribute to the mother who was esteemed so highly by her many friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Wiley (now known as Hickory Grove, Tebo Twp) cemetery near that place.
