She is a daughter of Uriah and Margaret M. Coppage and was married previously to Benjamin E. Ellis and then to Archibald Lafayette Brown (1842-1923).
- Aged Woman Dies - Widow of Lafe Brown Passes Away at Bradfordsville
Mrs. Ellen Brown, widow of A. Lafe Brown and a well known resident of the county, died at her home at Bradfordsville early last Saturday morning following a few days illness. Death was due to intestinal paralysis. She had been in her usual health until she was stricken a few days before her death. Funeral services were held at the home Monday Afternoon at 2 o'clock by Rev. C. W. Noel and burial was in Old Liberty cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was 80 years old having been born in the Bradsfordsville section November 10, 1844. Before her marriage to Mr. Brown, which took place about fifty eight years ago, she was Miss Ellen Coppage. Her husband; whose death occurred December 14, 1923, was a veteran of the Union Army in the Civil War, having served with the Sixth Ky. Cavalry. Mrs. Brown was a good woman and was a consistent member of the Christian church.
Mrs. Brown is survived by four children. They are Mrs. W. Perry Marple and A. T. Brown of this county, Mrs. L. E. Isaacs of Indianapolis and T. C. Brown of Missouri. Three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Prior Swiggett of this county, Mrs. Willis Malone of Casey County, Mrs. Ben Ellis of Illinois and Killis Coppage of this county also survive.
