Alice graduated from Franklin High School in 1945 and attended one year of college. Mrs. Copeland was a housewife and a memeber of Trinity Park United Methodist Church.

Miss Alice Herald BECOMES A BRIDE IN AUTUMN CEREMONY - A pretty Autumn ceremony read October 9th at 2:30 pm n the Pleasant Valley Christian Church, Miss Alice Leon Herald, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Ceci Herald of Action became the bride of E. Eugene Copeland, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Copeland of near London. Reverend Robert Whitehead read the doube - ring ceremony before an alter appropriately decorated after Miss Jane Moore had sung two selections, "I'LL Walk Beside You" and "Because". A program of bridal aires played by the church organist also preceded the ceremony. The bridal gawn was of candlelight satin, fashioned with a chapel train, long, fitted bodice sheer yoke and long sleeves tapering to points over the hand. The veil was of fingertip illusion and the bride carried a white prayer book centered with a white orchid. Miss Judy Moore was maid of honor and wore an orchid taffeta gown with fitted bodice and full skirt with a sash. She carried a bouqueet of matchibg flowers. Mr. Copeland had chosen John Boner as best man and ushers were Dale and James Copeland. For her daughter's wedding Mrs Herald had selected a navy blue dress and wore a red rosebud corsage. Mrs Copland , mother of the groom, was attired in gray and also wore a corsage of red rosebuts. Immediately following the ceremony the newly married couple were honored at a reception at the home of the groom's parents and after a short wedding trip will be at home on a farm northeast of Shelbyville.
