Dorothy "Dot" "Nana" Cantrell, 82, of Sparta, pased away Tuesday, March 6, 2001.

Cantrell was born April 18, 1918, in DeKalb County, to Madison and Exie Adcock Cope.

She was a member of Sparta First Baptist Church and an employee of the Emergency Medical System.

Cantrell was preceded in death by her husband, James Roland Cantrell and four sisters, Versey Marlowe, Vella Barnes, Goldie Cantrell, and Ressie Cantrell.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Earl Phifer of Sparta; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jimmy Ray "J.R." Cantrell of Sparta and Jerry and Judy Cantrell of Cookeville; four grandchildren and their spouses, Kurt M. and Amy Phifer of Saprta, Jason Cantrell of Nashville, Robbe and Amy Cantrell of Murfreesboro, and Jill Cantrell Moore and Jeff Moore of Memphis; five brothers, Henry Cope, Anthony Cope, and Ray Cope all of McMinnville, Haston Cope of Muncie, Indiana, and Carl Cope of Sparta; and one sister, Ozene Malone of Georgia.

Services were held Saturday, March 10, 2001, at 2 p.m. at Sparta First Baptist Church with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Dean Haun, Jeff Jones, and Stephen Playl officite.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arranagements.
