Daughter of Benjamin Harrison and Nettie Cousins Tucker

Mrs. Doris Tucker Cope, 82, of Advance died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born April 20, 1926 in Davie County to Benjamin Harrison and Nettie Cousins Tucker. Mrs. Cope was an active member of Elbaville United Methodist Church. She retired from AT&T after 38 years and was a charter member and past president of the 8719 Ladies Auxiliary VFW.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamin Austin Cope; a brother, James Tucker and a sister, Athene Spry.
Surviving: her son, Tommy Cope (Karen); a sister, Betty James; a brother, Wilbur McMahan; a granddaughter, Angie Burton (Darrell), all of Advance; 2 great-grandchildren, AJ Burton (Brittany) and Austina Burton; and a great-great-grandchild, Aiden Burton.
A funeral service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18 at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Hill officiating. Burial followed in Elbaville United Methodist Church Cemetery.
