Marie Agnes Carter, 93, she was born on June 29, 1914, to Charlie Coots and Beatrice (Baubien) Coots in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, Canada. Her parents were pioneers who moved from Ontario and Quebec in 1905 to help found the prairie wheat farming community of Gravelbourg.
She was raised in Gravelbourg, attending kindergarten through 12th grade at the Convent of Gravelbourg.
On Sept. 15, 1950, she married Roland Hill Carter at the St. Philmena Cathedral in Gravelbourg. He was a geophysicist working in the oil and gas industry. They lived in various Rocky Mountain states and Canada, settling in Regina, Saskatchewan, until 1966.
That year, they moved to Casper with the Marathon Oil Co., and she lived in Casper since then.
She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Church and the St. Bernadette Circle. She also was a member of GEO Wives for many years. After her husband died in 1982, she did volunteeer work at the Poplar Living Center, St. Vincent De Paul and Meals on Wheels. She loved to play bridge and other card games.
Survivors include one son, Michael Carter and his wife of Casper; one daughter, Therese LeClerk of California; one sister, Irene Lafrance; and one niece and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Mary; and one nephew.
Burial will be at Memorial Gardens.
