TYLER - Funeral services for Gertrude Arkelin, 89, Whitehouse, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, July 9, 2009, in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral home with the Rev. Chuck Bratz and Chaplain Maurice Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse cemetery.
Gertrude was born December 21, 1919, in Bullard to the late Richard P. Cooper and Ida Ennis Cooper and graduated from Whitehouse High School in 1938. She was a homemaker and previously worked for R.L. Davis Manufacturing and was a member of Whitehouse United Methodist Church.
Forever remembered as a loving wife and mother, she is survived by her husband of 62 years, Roy Arkelin of Whitehouse; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sue Arkelin of California; daughter and son-in-law, Cathy and Ben Dintelman of Whitehouse; brother, Reuben Cooper of Port Arthur; sisters, Bobbie Cain and Christine Weigman, both of Whitehouse; grandchildren, Regan Arkelin, Melissa Evans, John Arkelin, Travis Dintelman, Ashley Kornegay, Brittany Dintelman; and great-grandchildren, Hannah Dintelman and Madison Grace Evans.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Paula Arkelin and a brother, Billy Ray Cooper.
Pallbearers will be Roger Clay, Brian Kornegay, J.E. Dintelman, Robert Earl Williams, Travis Dintelman and Bo Smith.
