Fayetta A. Bailey, 96, formerly of 1617 Spring Garden Ave., Berwick, died at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 2, 2004, in Berwick Retirement Village II, where she had been a resident for eight and a half years. She resided on Spring Garden Avenue for 69 years.
Fayetta was born in Nescopeck, April 25, 1908, a daughter of the late James E. and Daisy Freas Cooper. She worked in the former Baer Silk Mill, Dockey's Shirt Factory, Multiplex Manufacturing and Milco Inc., Bloomsburg, where she retired from.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Berwick and Eastern Star Chapter 258.
She enjoyed bowling, sewing and crocheting. She cut many patches for American Baptist Women's Ministries.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Willard "Bill" Bailey Sr., on July 15, 1975; a son, Willard Bailey Jr., on Sept. 11, 1990; a grandson, Douglas Bailey; brothers: Robert, William, Owen, Ralph and Edward T. Cooper; and sisters: Cleo Brobst, Myrtle Hartman, Margaret Hess and Virginia C. Keiser.
She will be remembered by her two children: Mrs. Robert (Leah) Cameron, Newark, Del.; Mrs. George (Winifred) Yerges, Berwick; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Bailey, Beriwck and five grandsons: Robert Cameron Jr., David Cameron, Kenneth and Carl Yerges, Willard Bailey III; 12 great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and a sister, Celia Adams, Nescopeck.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Heller Funeral Home, Nescopeck, where services will be held Saturday at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Craig W. Martin, her pastor, officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in Pine Grove cemetery, Market St., Berwick. Calling hours will be Saturday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the memorial fund at First Baptist Church, 224 W. Front St., Berwick, PA 18603.
