Betty Lavada Cooper, 70, of 310 Thelma Drive, died Tuesday, July 30, 2002, at her residence. She was born in Burke County, N.C., and was the daughter of the late R.L. Rector and Katie Coffey Rector. She was a homemaker and a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church and the Peace Sunday school Class. She is survived by her husband, Darby Randolph Cooper, of Mauldin; two daughters, Beverly C. Coln and her husband Bobby, of Greenville, and Darby C. Atkinson and her husband Jimmy, of Hickory Tavern; seven grandchildren, Casey and Sarah Coln of Greenville, Ashley, Hunter and Will Atkinson of Hickory Tavern, Toni Sutherland of Simpsonville, and Katie Kemrer of Halifax, Pa.; and five great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Brittany, Taylor and Patricia Kemrer, and Tristan Sutherland. In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by a son, Kenneth Wayne Cooper.
Visitation will be held today, Aug. 2, 2002, from 12 to 1:30 p.m., prior to the service. Services will be held today, Aug. 2, 2002, at 2 p.m., at Cannon Funeral Home, Jones Chapel, Simpsonville, conducted by the Rev. Bill Page, the Rev. Michael Beeks and the Rev. Pat Perry. Committal services will be held at Graceland East Cemetery.
