Patsy Stout Cooper passed from this life to eternity in heaven on Saturday, April 16, 2011.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 3:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Ulrey, officiating. Burial will be in the Cache Creek Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2011 at the funeral home.

Patsy was born in the family home southwest of Seymour on January 16, 1929 to Lowe L and Mary Alice Robertson Stout. She attended a one room school, Miller Creek School for two years and transferred to a two teacher school, Mary's Creek school for four years. She graduated from Seymour High School.

Patsy graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.

She taught Home Economics in Sonora, Megargel, Olney and Goree. She returned to college and received her Master's in Library Science in 1971 from East Texas State University. She became librarian at Seymour High School and later Seymour Elementary, as well. She retired after 35 years of teaching; then returned to Goree Schools as a part-time librarian.

Mrs. Cooper sponsored FHA trips, class activities and senior trips. Juniors and Seniors benefitted from her research expertise while writing term papers. She loved those high school students.

Cooper, Mama Pat, or Aunt Patsy had a life long love for her family and community. She was an active member of the Baylor County Historical Commission, serving as president. She helped collect information and write "Salt Port to Sirloin, Volumes I and II" and "Latchstrings". She renewed interest in homecoming for Seymour Ex-Students beginning in 1976. She served on the nominations committee for the Seymour Old Settlers Reunion. She served and encouraged others to do the same. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

She was a past member of the Classroom Teachers Association and a lifetime member of TSTA/NEA. She served as an officer in both.

Patsy received the Seymour Chamber of Commerce 1986 Friend of Seymour and 1989 Citizen of the Year. She was an honorary Chapter Farmer for Seymour FFA.

Patsy Stout married Raymond Cooper of Sonora. They divorced.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lowe and Mary Alice Stout; an infant brother, William Frank; an infant daughter, Phyllis Jo; and an older brother, Jack Stout.

She is survived by a daughter, Alice Ruth and husband, Laron Peters of Gothenburg, NE; a granddaughter, Lizette Alice and husband, Mike Dahlgren of Lincoln, NE; a grandson, Levi Zach Peters of Lincoln, NE. Other survivors include three sisters, Jo Alice Stout of Munday, Betty Lynn Stout Styles of Seymour, and Trixie Stout Holt of Gruver, Texas; a brother, Jimmy Stout and wife, Jo Rozelle of Seymour; and a sister-in-law, Anne Stout of Seymour. She is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins whom she dearly loved.
