He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He married Shirley Mae Watson at the family farmhouse June 7, 1948, in Little Prairie, Township of Troy. Donald enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also did woodworking, making many gifts for family and friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Marjery Love; and two brothers-in-law; Robert Seeber, John Love, and his parent.
