Estelle Cherry, 80, of Gamaliel died June 25, 2007, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow.
The Clay County, Tenn., native was born April 8, 1927. She was a retired homemaker and a member of Gamaliel Church of Christ. She was a daughter of the late Bedford Coons and Marinda Butler Coons and the wife of the late Rev. Sammy W. Cherry. She was preceded in death by a son, Don A. Cherry; a grandson, Neal Cherry; four brothers, Buford, Clifton, Edward and Leslie Coons; two sisters, Bertha Crawford and Gertrude Hatcher; two half sisters, Suzette Dixon and Annette York; two half brothers, Tony and Clovis Coons; and a stepmother, Wilma Biles.
Survivors include five sons, Duel Cherry of Fountain Run, Dennis Cherry of Nashville, Dale Cherry and his wife, Vickie, of Lafayette, Tenn., and Doyle Cherry and David Cherry and his wife, Patty, all of Gamaliel; three daughters, Joyce Hudson and her husband, Jim, of Bowling Green, Judy Hatcher and her husband, David, of Gamaliel and Jan Browning and her husband, Jeff, of Glasgow; a sister, Opal Crawford of Indianapolis; two half brothers, Mitchell Coons of Cleveland, Tenn., and Princeton Coons of Red Boiling Springs, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-stepgrandchild.
Funeral is at Strode Funeral Home, with burial in Gamaliel Cemetery.
