William Lafayette Coonrod was born in Fannin County, Texas, September 23, 1870 to Thomas J. Coonrod and Elizabeth C. Coonrod. He was married first to Ruth Mathis and had two children, Richmond and Ethel. He married Lula Belle Farmer in Lawton, Oklahoma in June, 1902. They had five sons, Ruben, Ervin Ellis, Earnest Raymond, Hubert Marion, and Arthur Albert. William Lafayette "Uncle Bill" lived most of his life in Fannin County and was loved by many, being known by most people in Fannin County for having the Coonrod berry fields where he grew delicious strawberries. He was the patriarch of the Boyd Baptist Church of which he was a charter member. "Uncle Bill" was adored by many including grandchildren and great grandchildren and left a legacy of love. He was buried in the Leonard Cemetery upon his death on March 16, 1966 at the age of 95 years.
