in 2007 Ed & Ellie Lambert were expanding the store by removing the West wall and adding one room. When they removed the wall they discovered a cancelled check written by Arthur M. Coolbroth in 1928 to the General Store for $1.00.
The building for the general store was originally a hotel at Mr. Biedell's mining camp located a few miles north of the town. In 1907, Arthur M. Coolbroth bought the logs, numbered them and used them to build a barn at the mouth of Canero Creek.
The building was moved to its present spot in 1923 as a general store and post office. THe store traded goods for lumber from the local mills. Originally a two story building, the, the top floor was removed and a house was added to the side.
