OLD TOWN - Alice E. Atwood, 83, formally of Bingham went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 16, 2012, in Bangor. Alice was born Aug. 29, 1928, in Cambridge, to Fred and Freda (Beathham) Cookson. She grew up in the Skowhegan area. She moved to Bingham in 1945, where she was a resident for many years. Alice had worked at Quimby Veneer Mill, the Kennebec Mill in Bingham and for Solon Manufacturing. She has been a resident of Old Town for the past 16 years.
Alice served as a trustee of the Evergreen Wilderness Chapel of Solon.
She was predeceased by an infant son, Kenneth Ralph Spearrin; and her siblings, Melvin Alphones Cookson, Harry E. Cookson, Helen M. Cookson, Benjamin E. Cookson and Rose E. Cookson.
Survived by her children, Gene R. Spearrin and wife Gladys of Bangor, and R. Reginald "Reggie" Spearrin and wife Charli of Solon; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Jeannette Seymor, of Old Town.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery on River Road in Solon. (Morning Sentinel 4/18/2012)
