Laverne Cooksey Adkins, 78, of Springfield, died Friday February 24, 2012 at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday February 28th at 3:00 p.m. in the Oakhurst Chapel of the Robertson County Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Cunningham and Dr. Donnie Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Heads Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris and Warren Cooksey, Josh Manor, Jeff, Sandy, and Randy Bugg. The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Adkins was born October 9, 1933 in Montgomery County to the late J.R. and Roberta Watts Cooksey. She retired as a sewing technician at Acme Boot and also worked many years in the nursery at Jesse Holman Jones Hospital. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her son: Wayne Parker. She is survived by her sons: Mitchell Parker of Manhattan, KS, Ronnie Parker of Chapmansboro, and Kim Webster of Cross Plains, her daughter: Angela Parker of Dickson, brothers: Burton and Danny Cooksey both of Springfield, and Ricky Cooksey of Clarksville, sister: Betty Jean Bugg of Springfield, 15 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
