BOONEVILLE - Hazel M. Cooksey Alday, 89, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Booneville. She was born June 21, 1921, in Webster County to John Henry Cooksey and Maddie Owens Cooksey. She was a homemaker, and she was a member of New Life Church of Jesus Christ. She enjoyed cooking, gospel music, flowers, going to church and most of all, her family.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Booneville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Douglas McVey and Bro. Jack Arntd officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Memorial Garden. Booneville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Grady Alday, whom she married in 1969; five sons, Melvin Harrison (Naomi), Sammy Harrison (Sherry), Gene Harrison (Tammy), Nathan Harrison (Denise) and Gary Harrison (Diane), all of Booneville; four daughters, Mavis McClellan, Alice Southern (Art), Grace Gurley and Candy Moore (Bill), all of Booneville; a stepdaughter, Lisa Woodruff of Baldwyn; 30 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, G.W. Harrison; a son, Roger Dale Harrison; a sister, Hattie Pearl King; two brothers, Daniel Cooksey and William Cooksey; and two grandsons, Kenneth Andrew Harrison and John Adam Harrison.
Pallbearers will be Steve McClellan, Greg Moore, Johnny Harrison, Anthony Harrison, Kenny Harrison and Jason Harrison.
Honorary pallbearers are Shane Harrison and Mark Harrison.
