COOKE, FLORENCE CECCOLINI Peacefully at Connecticut Hospice on May 28, 2011, Florence Cooke, wife of the late Nelson B. Cooke, mother of Wayne (Denise) Cooke, and grandmother of Kathryn Cooke, all of Branford. Sister of Bruno (Ruth) Ceccolini of Branford, and the late Harold (Evelyn) Ceccolini, John (Mary) Ceccolini and Edith (Clifford) Doebrick, all of Branford. Also survived by many devoted nieces and nephews and beloved friend, Joyce Norton. Daughter of the late Bruno and Phyllis Ceccolini of Branford, Florence was born July 21, 1920 at the Ceccolini family farm and attended Branford public schools. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Branford and was actively involved throughout her life in many community organizations and activities. In the mid-1950's, she worked alongside her husband Nelson, mother Phyllis, and mother-in-law, Edith, to develop the Hilltop Orchard pies, known throughout the area for decades. She worked in the business for over seventy years, especially loved interacting with customers, and remained owner until its closing in 2004. Known to many as Sis, others as Aunt Flo, and to granddaughter Kathryn as Bam Bam, Florence enjoyed travel, shopping, genealogy, and music, especially opera. She was a fan of the UConn Huskies, Syracuse Orangemen, and the New York Yankees. Most of all she loved, and lived for, her family and friends, especially Kathryn, the apple of her eye. W. S. Clancy Memorial Funeral Home, 244 North Main St., Branford is in charge of arrangements. All are invited to attend funeral services at the First Congregational Church in Branford on Saturday June 4th at 10:00 am. There will be no calling hours, and burial will be private. Special thanks are extended by the family to the extraordinary healthcare professional at Yale-New Haven Hospital, Branford Hills Health Care, and Connecticut Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to CT Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405
