OBITUARY

Dora Dean Carbine was born on November 11, 1882 on a farm in Brookings County, S. Dak. to Henry and Ida Cook. As a small girl she moved with her parents to Aurora, S. Dak. Where she grew to woman hood. She attended State College in Brookings and taught school in Brookings and Hamlin County.

She was united in marriage to James W. Carbine on December 28, 1907 at Brookings, S. Dak. They farmed in Preston Township, Brookings County until 1930 when they moved into Estelline, S. Dak. Where she lived until her death. She passed away at Memorial Hospital in Watertown, S. Dak. on Sunday morning, May 7, 1972, reaching the age of 89 years, 5 months and 26 days. She worked for Davis Store and served as City Librarian for many years. She was also a correspondent for the Estelline Journal. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, Ladies Aid and Guild, Royal Neighbors of America, Study Club, Birthday Club and Hospital Auxiliary.

Mrs. Carbine is survived by one sister, Mrs. Molly Culhane of Spokane, Wash.; six nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1963, two sisters and one brother.
