CARLSBAD -- A funeral for Vickie Beauford, 78, of Church Street, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Daniel Mullins of Fox and Walnut Church of God officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park.
Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at West Funeral Home.
She died Monday, June 19, 2006, at home.
Arrangements are by West Funeral Home.
Rosa Virginia "Vickie" Beauford was born Aug. 29, 1927, in Carson County, Texas, to Wayne and Agnes Edwin (West) Cook.
She graduated from Eunice High School in 1944 and on June 27, 1944, she married her sweetheart, Douglas Fairbanks Beauford, in Carlsbad. They made their home in Carlsbad.
Vickie was employed as a bookkeeper with Levine's for 13 years before being employed by Gossett's Jewelry as a bookkeeper for the next 35 years. Her illness forced her to retire about two and one-half weeks ago. She was an active member of Fox and Walnut Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband on June 12, 1970, and her son, Steve, in 1973.
Vickie is survived by three sisters, Corrine Whitehead of Middleburg, Fla., Josiephine Whitehead and husband Hubert of Andrews, Texas, and Peggy Lavine of Midland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Billy Don Mitchell, A.L. Mitchell, Henry Noel, Michael Trujillo, Brandon Rhodes and Walter Brown.
Honorary pallbearers will be her Fox and Walnut Church family and her Gossett's Jewelry family.
