She was a woman that lived her life thru her Children and Grandchildren. She is missed everyday that I live, her Grandchildren were her pride and joy, Then she Turned her attention to My oldest son she taught Eddie how to fight, helped him with his homework and made sure he had plenty of junk food, Her youngest Grandchild Richie was nicknamed SUPER BABY by her. Family came first , and she taught me unconditional love , If I had kicked a nun, mom would have said the woman should have stayed out of my way. I could do no wrong and she passed that on to me, my family may not always be correct but they are never wrong.

Edith Elenore married Richard Allen,
Richard Allen was small in stature, but he left big shoes for his sons to fill.
He was a boilermaker, he was an Alcoholic, and he was married 3 times, twice to the same woman a Mary L. (Greenwood) Allen. They were married July 20, 1940. I was told he married her twice and they were divorced twice. My brother and I never met her. He had no children from that union, he then married My Mother Edith Elenore Cook, They had 2 boys Richard William and Edward Henry Allen, He was self employed starting his own boiler repair and welding business, R Allen Industrial Boiler Repairs, after losing his Job after a traffic accident in which he was hit from behind by a Philadelphia Trolley Car. He was quite successful and supported his family quite well until his untimely death. He disappeared the 2nd of January 1962, and his body was found frozen in Timber Creek off of the Old Black Horse Pike, Chews Landing New Jersey by local firefighters on January 13, 1962.

Edith Elenore married Richard Allen, Richard Allen was a boilermaker welder who founded a business in I believe 1956 called R Allen Industrial Boiler Repairs. They lived at 429 Ridge Avenue, Glendora New Jersey in the county of Camden, in 1957 they moved to 1018 Chews Clementon Road, Chews landing New Jersey still in the county of Camden, the mailing address was Laurel Springs and the phone book listed it as Lindenwold, the Phone number was 609-783-5500. It was also his business telephone number.

Their father, Richard William, was the second member of the Cook side of the family to graduate high school and the first member of the Allen side of the family to graduate from high school. 2nd son (Me) Edward Henry Allen born 6/11/1950,
My education consisted of 12 years of grade school; Kindergarten thru sixth Grade was split between Glendora Elementary School on Station avenue in Glendora, and Chews landing Elementary school on Somerdale road in Chews Landing. Seventh and Eighth Grade I attended Gloucester Township Elementary School on the Black Horse Pike in Blackwood New Jersey. Then I spent 3 years attending Triton Regional High School on Schuster Ave. Runnemede New Jersey, where we had split shifts. The shift I attended was called the Blue School. My Senior Year I attended Highland Regional High School, on Erial Road, Blackwood, New Jersey, my main course was Distributive Education, called D.E.C.C.A, where I made several life time friend that I still swap emails with Class of 1968. As I hated school and I was making one dollar and eighty cents per hour and I got to work 7 days and 2 nights I thought I didn't need college.
Richard Allen gave both of his sons a great work ethic.
I have been a workaholic since I started working, my Senior year of High School. I started working at New Deal Lumber, 500 south Black horse pike, Blackwood New Jersey I worked there till May of 1976, also over that period of time I worked at Frank Allison's Gulf station on the corner of Blackwood Clementon road and Little Gloucester Road Blackwood New Jersey,
I then went to work at Freeway Lumber on Kings Highway Mt. Ephraim, New Jersey for 1 year as the Manager of the Home Center, in that time I was number 4 man in seniority, When you went to lunch on Friday to the spread Eagle Tavern, if your time card was still there you had another week to work, This is where I was working when I went thru my Divorce.

My Mom moved in with me and sold her home in Chews Landing, she lived with me, then bought a house trailer and moved into national Trailer park in Williamstown New Jersey,

Mom lived in Bellmawr Manor a few years and then became paranoid with the people that lived in the apartments around her and she moved back in with us at Franklinville, we then got her a trailer at a trailer park across from Fries Mill Road ,she stayed there a couple months and then moved back in with us in Franklinville and she stayed there till she be came ill with congestive heart failure she hadn't been to a doctor for years, it ended up with her having a hysterectomy and a pace maker installed for a irregular heart beat, she lived thru all that and came home, a year or two later she called me in to the bathroom, she was passing blood in her urine she was taken into the Hospital and they found Cancer in her bladder which they also said was smaller then a normal sized bladder. She also had Dementia, she returned home and was taken back to the hospital, she was given a home care nurse that game in 3 days a week, that threatened us that we could not leave her home alone as she couldn't take care of herself, her mind had gone as well, she decided that would just stay in bed and lost control of her going to the bathroom, finally we had to call the ambulance after one of her attacks, and they took her to the hospital, Where I was told by a worker that if we refused to take her home they would find a nursing home to take her in, if we took her home they would press charges of neglect against me for leaving her alone. She entered the nursing home in Deptford and was treated for all her ailments and beat the Cancer, but finally she passed away February 23, 2000 in her sleep just as her father had before her.

I was on unemployment for a time then I went to Camden Lumber to work in November of 1978, In no time I was working 7 days a week and making money almost as fast as I could buy drinks, I was involved as a passenger in a auto accident with a co worker named Carlos Burgos driving, we were in the hospital a week after being arrived in the emergency room from supposed death, for the next several years I partied hardy, I was either indestructible or going to die any second so I crammed as much Fun into my life as possible, I was working at Camden when I had my first DWI in the city of Gloucester, I spent the night in jail and walked from Gloucester to Camden Lumber to go to work. A walk along one of the most dangerous areas in Camden at that time. During my stay at Camden Lumber I traveled twice to Memphis Tennessee, and once to Butler Pennsylvania for American Hardware Trade Shows we drank the entire time from the time we left the lumber yard till we returned to work 3 or 4 days later.

Camden Lumber closed when the prime rate and the gas prices skyrocketed in the Carter Days, I went to Associated building specialties in Blackwood New Jersey and after having trouble cashing my checks I took an on the road job with Freeway Lumber , One day I was visiting friends at New Deal Lumber and they asked me what was I doing now that Freeway closed, funny thing was no one from Freeway had told me they were closing, the Owner Ross Reider had decided that beings the prime rate as 22% and he could only mark lumber up 15% it no longer made sense to go thru the trouble if he could make more money just on bank interest. I was out of work over a year after that, finally giving up on the Lumber industry.

I found a job at Modern Mobility on Rte 73 in Berlin New Jersey here I did telephone sales and traveled over Pennsylvania Ohio and Delaware demonstrating 3 wheeled electric wheel chairs. Traveling 3 days out of the week going from house to house. I was doing quite well again making more money then I could drink up, when the FBI moved in it seems the owners of Modern Mobility were stealing leads from Electric Mobility and I was unemployed again.

October 14th 1983 I started working at Joffe Lumber, 18 Burns Ave. Vineland New Jersey I'm still there, course the economy stinks again and business is way down, but so far so good.
My wife Margaret and I were married 12/13/1986, we have 2 children , Ed Allen Jr. age 17 , He is a Senior at Delsea High School, He Turns 18 May the 12th, 2007, He plans to attend College in the Fall, soon as I arrange the financing, When you have a child that has always won awards thru out school you don't mind doing without so that he will prosper, and little Richie age 9 he was born on valentines day 1998, He, was just made citizen of the Month for March 2007 at Main Road School and made the honor roll , 5 weeks premature. I have truly been Blessed with two Wonderful Boys.

Mom Loved seeing these come up in the yard every year, so I planted them and a bunch of other bulbs on her grave that come up every spring.
