Frances Bailey, 99, of Berne, Indiana passed away at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur, Indiana
Frances was born on February 16, 1910 in Wabash Township in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of Joseph and Magdalena (Hirschy) Cook, both deceased. She married Elmer Bailey on February 12, 1930 and he preceded her in death.
Frances was a member of the First Missionary Church in Berne, Indiana. She was a homemaker and helped her husband on the family farm. Frances worked in the office of Nussbaum Novelty and worked in the food service for Amishville and Bearcreek Farms. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society, the Jay Society, the Prime Time Church Singers, and volunteered at Swiss Village and Project Share. Frances enjoyed gardening, quilting, cooking, sewing, and music.
Frances is survived by a son, Walter (Charlotte) Bailey of Omaha, Nebraska and a daughter-in-law, Crystal Bailey of Berne, Indiana. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by a son, Paul "Bud" Bailey; brothers, Herman, Chester, and Clyde Cook; and sisters, Elnora Langham and Elvina Langham.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the Swiss Village Auditorium in Berne with the Rev. Jerry Flueckiger and the Rev. Jim Langham officiating. Interment will be in the M.R.E. Cemetery of rural Berne.
Family and friends will be received from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the Swiss Village Auditorium.
Preferred memorials are to Swiss Village or the First Missionary Church.
