Janice Cook Adkins, 75, died at 10:15 AM Friday, April 18, 2003, at her Lafayette residence; she had battled cancer for 20 months. Born at Hoopeston, IL, on July 25, 1927, she was the daughter of Reid L. and Mildred B. Case Cook. She came to Lafayette 53 years ago, and graduated from Indiana Business College in 1946. She married William L. Adkins at Hoopeston on Feb. 9, 1951; he survives.
Mrs. Adkins was a member of Brown Street United Methodist Church where she was president of United Methodist Women.
Surviving with her husband are three daughters, Kathy (Mrs. Roger) McClannen of Lafayette, Joan (Mrs. John) Williamson of Saline, MI, and Sandra (Mrs. Richard) Leill of Lafayette; a sister, Mary A. Neilan of Lafayette; and seven grandchildren. Service April 22 at Brown Street United Methodist Church, the Rev. Bruce Mowery officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
