Mary J. Hammond
Mrs. Mary Jane HAMMOND, 88, Akron, died Friday at 7 p.m. in Woodlawn hospital, where she had been a patient since Monday.
The daughter of Albert and Francis COOK, Mrs. Hammond was born in Dark county, Ohio Jan. 1, 1871. She moved to Akron in 1889.
On Oct. 5, 1891, she was married to Clement H. HAMMOND in Akron, where they owned and operated a store for several years.
Surviving are six sons: Lloyd [HAMMOND], Rochester; Harold and Fred [HAMMOND], Akron; Paul [HAMMOND], Los Angeles; Jay [HAMMOND], Ionia, Mich., and Elmer [HAMMOND], Mishawaka; two daughters, Mrs. Mary WOLFLA, Morgantown, and Mrs. Pearl NEWCOMER, Rochester; a brother, Theodore COOK, Sacramento, Cal.; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel C. BARRETT, New York city, and Mrs. Gertrude McCLUNG, Rochester; thirty-five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Sheetz funeral home in Akron with the Rev. Harold CONRAD officiating. Burial will be in the Akron I.O.O.F. cemetery.
