Amanda J. Cook, wife of John Cook, life-time resident of Mulberry and vicinity, died at 9:15 o'clock Monday morning at the Home hospital in Lafayette. She had been ill at her home for the past year due to her advanced age, but the immediate cause of her death was complications arising from a hip fracture received in a fall Sunday at her home.

Mrs. Cook was born northeast of Mulberry, May 15, 1859, the daughter of Moses and Christina (Kauffman) Jacoby. She was the last survivor of a family of thirteen children.

In 1896 she was married to John D. Cook, who, with two daughters, Mrs. Lena Foltz of Bremen and Emma, at home, and one grandson, survives. One son preceded her in death.

Mrs. Cook was long a teacher in the Zion Lutheran Sunday School and in other ways was a faithful and active worker in her church until advancing years prevented her from any longer carrying on these duties.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p. m. Wednesday in Zion Lutheran church by the Rev. A. E. Wulf. The body lay in state at the church one hour before the hour of the funeral.

Pallbearers were Clarence Rex, John Rex, Lawrence Jacoby, Lawrence Clendenning, Richard Harshman and Elba Bryan. Flower bearers and guard of honor were the women of her Sunday School class. Mrs. Lauros Rutan and Mrs. William D. Rothenberger sang.

Burial was in Fair Haven cemetery.
