Partial Obituary from the Waterville Telegraph:

Mary Ellen MAPES was born in Boxley, Indiana November 19, 1847 and departed life October 1, 1919, age 71 years, 10 months and 12 days. She came with her parents to Waterville in 1865 and with the exception of two years has lived here ever since. She was united in marriage to Daniel MAPES December 12, 1867. To this union were born ten children. Two sisters survived Mrs. MAPES. They were Mrs J.P. CORNELIUS of Hannibal, MO and Mrs. H. LILLIBRIDGE of Waterville, KS.

In 1900 she became a member of the St. Marks Lutheran Church in Waterville in which she was a faithful member until her death.
