Daniel D. "Dee Dee-Peanut" Cook, a retired longshoreman with ILA No. 1410, died Monday at a local health care facility.
Cook, 86, a native of Conecuh County, resided in Mobile.
He was a member of Stewart Memorial CME Church and the Men's Singing Aggregation.
Survivors include four children, Joe Louis Cook of Mobile, Evelyn Sutton and George Cook, both of Chicago, and Oscar F. Cook of Staten Island, N.Y.; a sister, Annie Cox of Mobile; a brother, Roosevelt Cook of Georgiana, Ala.; 28 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be Friday from noon to 5 p.m. at Christian Benevolent Funeral Home. A second viewing will begin at noon Saturday at Stewart Memorial CME Church, 1266 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., with visitation from 2 p.m. until services begin at 3 p.m. Burial will be at Whispering Pines Cemetery.
