Adeline was the wife of James A. Cook. Census records differ as to when she was born. Her grandson, Guy A. Cook, is also buried in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Omaha Daily Bee, January 07, 1896:
"The funeral of Mrs. Adeline Cook, mother of J. M. Cook, will be held at the First Methodist Episcopal church this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment at Laurel Hill cemetery."
The 1880 census for Ashland Precinct, Boone County, Nebraska states that Adeline was living with her husband, James A. Cook, 47 years old, who was born in Ohio. James worked as a farmer. His parents were both born in New York.
Adeline is listed as Ada, 48 years old, born in Pennsylvania. Her father was born in Pennsylvania, her mother in Ohio. Adeline and James were living with their three children: John M., 16 years old, born in Pennsylvania; Henry A., 10 years old, born in Michigan; and Jennie, age 6, born in Nebraska.
In 1885 census the family was still living in Ashland, NE. The census states that James A., a farmer, 49 years old was born in Ohio - his parents in New York. Adeline, is listed as 63 years old (probably a mistake), and she and her parents are were all born in Pennsylvania. Children listed are: John (age 21), born in Pennsylvania, Henry (age 16), born in Michigan, and Jane (age 11) born in Nebraska.
