Allen Cook, the oldest of the ten known children of Isaac Harris Cook and Jane Decker, was born on September 8, 1852 in Grayson County, Kentucky. He was married twice. His first wife was Mary Ellen Newton, who was born on May 21, 1851. At the time of the 1880 Census of Sand Spring, Grayson County, Kentucky the Allen Cook family consisted of: Allen, a farmer, age 27, his wife Mary E., age 29; and their children: Wiliam T., age 6; Sarah J., age 3; and Isaac E., age 2 months.

Mary Ellen Newton Cook died on March 28, 1904. His second wife was Rebecca (Ferris) Hack, They were married on September 27, 1904. It was her second marriage. Allen Cook died at the age of 82 in Sadler, Grayson County, Kentucky on March 29, 1935. He was buried in the family cemetery that is now known as the Allen Cook Cemetery on the Old Lod Decker farm near the Edmonson / Grayson County line. His first wife and their children: Sarah J., Isaac E., James S. and Richard Cook are also buried in this cemetery.
