A rosary will be recited for Alberto Ruiz Contreras, 24, of Roswell, at 7 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009, at Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with the Rev. Juan Montoya, O.F.M., officiating. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery. Alberto passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009, in Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Friday from 8 a.m. until the rosary at the funeral home.
Alberto was born Dec. 16, 1984, to Bert Contreras and Diana Thyberg in Roswell. He was a loving son, father, brother and uncle who will be missed dearly by all who knew him, family and friends. B.J. liked to joke, laugh, cruise and have a good time. He was a great father who loved his children dearly and always tried to spend as much time with them as he could. He loved his family and friends. He will be in our hearts forever and never forgotten. You are at peace and resting until we meet again. We love you always, Mom, Dad and family.
He is survived by his father Bert Contreras and his mother Diana Thyberg and her companion, Carlos; grandparents, Angel and Lucia Contreras, Sonia Valverde and Douglas Thyberg; two brothers, Tim Thyberg and Sammy Guerrero; three sisters, Tina Thyberg, Chantilly Contreras and Mandy Garcia; four children, Niya Archuleta, Neva Lara, Nana Lara, Juan Contreras and and two to be expected; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and B.J's special and closest friends, Robert and Martha Lopez and Jacob Gonzales.
Pallbearers will be Matt Thyberg, Ray Contreras, Joe Contreras, Joseph Estrada, Ernesto Estrada, Julian Lopez, Sammy Guerro, Rudy Contreras and Timothy Thyberg.
To my dearest brother, Being one of your oldest sisters was one of the greatest gifts I could have been given. I want you to know that Tim and I love you very much. We are going to miss your crazy sense of humor. Tim and I are going to miss you like crazy, but we know that when we get to heaven, you will be there waiting for us.
