Mary Matalinna Conrad was the fourth of six known children of John David Conrad (1788-1860) and Eve Hedrick Conrad (1792-1849), who married 25 Dec 1810 at Rowan (became Davidson) County, North Carolina John was a life-long farmer of Rowan (became Davidson in 1822) County, North Carolina.

Mary married William Henry Bowers (1817-1890) in c1838 at presumably Davidson County, North Carolina, though a marriage record can't be located.

Mary and William were the parents of ten known children, namely:

1. Adam Roswell ("Ross") Bowers (1839-1887)
2. Christena Jane (Jane or Crissie) Bowers Sink (1840-1907)
3. David W. Bowers (1843-1862)
4. Lucretia Adaline Bowers Fritts (1845-1869)
5. William Henry Bowers Jr. (1847-1926)
6. Lee Bowers (1849-young)
7. Andrew Lawrence Bowers (1852-1926)
