WINSTON-SALEM - Beatrice Marie Eldridge Conrad, age 94, ended her long life's journey when she went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 13, 2010. Bea was born March 26, 1916 in Winston-Salem. Bea was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, great-grand mother, and great, great-grandmother. She was a devoted member of Calvary Moravian Church in Winston-Salem and a member of both the Burke Sunday School Class and Woman's Circle # 1. She served as a youth advisor and a diener. Bea possessed a strong faith in God and a deep commitment to her Church. She was preceded in death by her parents: Thurman Malory Eldridge, Sr. and Dianne Robertson Eldridge; two brothers: James Pinkney Eldridge, and Thurman Malory Eldridge, Jr.; and four sisters: Ruth Shewmaker, Nellie Bates, Louise Bunton, and Essie Tolliver. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Ann Pierce and husband, William Eugene of Fuquay-Varina NC; two grandchildren: Michelle Pierce Grossniklaus and husband, Albert of Indianapolis, IN, and Dale Pierce of Fuquay-Varina, NC; six great-grandchildren: April Pierce Flaugher and husband, Luke and their son, Braxton (a great, great grandson), Danielle and Kelsey Pierce; Karl, Sara and Michael Grossniklaus; two brothers: Claude Eldridge of Elkin, NC, and Alvin Eldridge and wife, Deenie of North Wilksboro, NC; and several nieces and nephews, and friends who enriched her life. The family will receive friends at Calvary Moravian Church on Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 1 p.m. A Memorial Service will follow in the sanctuary at 2 p.m., with burial in God's Acre in Old Salem. Flowers are acceptable, but in lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Calvary Moravian Church, 600 Holly Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27101 or Hospice of Harnett County, POB 373, Erwin, NC 28339. Arrangements are by Salem Funeral & Cremation Services.
