Funeral services for Mr. Albert Gorden "Abb" Conner, 83, of Byrdstown, were conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 1, 2003, from the chapel of Brown Funeral Chapel in Byrdstown. Burial was in Lovelady-Sims Cemetery with Bro. Ricky Cross officiating.
Mr. Conner died Monday, April 28 at Livingston Regional Hospital. He was a member of Wolf River Baptist Church. He was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 100th Division, and a member of Disabled Veterans Association.
Born March 4, 1920, in Pickett County, he was the son of the late James Lorenzo "J.L." and Mary Clementine (Cross) Conner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William T. Conner and Granville Conner; three sisters, Bonnie Tompkins, Nora Conner, and Minnie (Conner) Arney; and two great grandchildren, Nathaniel Farr and Dylan Stewart.
Survivors include his wife, Aletha (Huddleston) Conner of Byrdstown; five daughters, Rosie Roger and husband, Mike, of Albany, KY, Leta Gatlin and husband, Bob, of Ft. Myers Beach, FL, Lily Greene and husband, Steve, of Baltimore, MD, Julia Wright and husband, Frank, of Livingston, and Mary Busby and husband, Tony, of Warner Robins, GA; two sons, James Conner and wife, Becky, of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Elbert "Chico" Conner and wife, Tamie, of Monroe; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
Pallbearers were Christopher Rogers, Brad Wright, Chris Busby, Scott Busby, James Daniel, Jeremy Conner, Michael Neal, and Kevin Neal.
