Dallas Morning News. December 20, 1903. Connell Found Guilty. Jury Assesses the Penalty at Fifteen Years in Penitentiary. Special to The News. Belton, Tex., Dec. 19. -- The jury in the case against John H. Connell brought in a verdict yesterday afternoon, finding him guilty and assessing his punishment at fifteen years in the penitentiary. On a former trial he was given twenty-five years, but the case was reversed by the Court of Criminal Appeals. He is charged with having killed his father here in May, 1902.
