MUNCIE--Gladys Pauline Hepstall, 85, passed away Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at Hamilton Trace of Fishers following an extended illness.
Gladys was born in Gaston on August 21, 1926, the daughter of Floyd C. and Geneva C. (Martin) Conner and was a 1945 graduate of Hartford City High School.
Mrs. Hepstall was a seamstress. She and her husband owned Mr. Hep's Tailoring and Alterations in Charleston, SC, for many years. She also owned Polly's Sewing Service in Muncie. Gladys was a member of Pilgrim Holiness Church on Apache Pass, Brownie Troop #41 at Sutton Elementary School, Warner Gear Auxiliary Sympathy Club, Peoples Sympathy Club, and a charter member of the First Smokey Mountain Church of the Nazarene in Pigeon Forge, TN.
Survivors include two sons, Ralph David Flatter of Cincinnati, OH, and Daniel A. Flatter, of Moncks Corner, SC; two daughters, Rebekah P. Flatter of McCordsville, and Ruth Hinkle (husband-Mike) of Muncie; a sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Rehse (husband-Bob), Yorktown; five grandchildren, Grayd Flatter (wife-Susan), Phoenix, AZ, Tiffini Vance, Tameka Vance, TeAyra Goins (husband-Paul), all of Muncie, and Lindsay Flatter, Summerville, SC; five great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Aaron E. Hepstall; a brother, Everett "Cecil" Conner; four sisters, Opal Holter, Madeline Jones, Muriel Osborn, and Rosemary Taylor.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, April 23, 2012 at Parson Mortuary with Pastor David Delk officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at Parson Mortuary from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012 or one hour prior to time of service on Monday.
