Mary Ellen Conley Caruso, 73, of 2501 E. Washington St., Bloomington, died at 3:50 p.m. Friday at OSF St Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Her funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, both in Bloomington, the Rev. Stephen Willard officiating. Burial will be in St Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi, 3221 S Lake St., St Francis, Wis. 53235
Surviving are her husband, Charles C Caruso; a daughter, Peggy Caruso, Fox Lake; a son, Thomas Caruso, Littleton, Colo.; a brother, Mark Conley, Springfield; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother.
She was born June 18, 1923, in Bloomington, a daughter of Willard and Margaret Sweeney Conley. She married Charles C. Caruso June 4, 1947, at Bloomington.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Church. She was an office worker 16 years at GM&O Railroad and was a secretary at Washington Grade School in Bloomington District 87 for 17 years.
She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta, Beta Sigma Chi, Elks Emblem Club, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Young at Heart Club of Holy Trinity, the East Side Home Extension, and Lakeside Country Club.
She was a graduate of Trinity High School and attended Illinois State Normal University and Browns Business College.
