Alan G. "A.C." Conley, son of Samuel Bert Conley & Vivian (Owens) Conley, was born October 5, 1944 in Canton, IL. He departed this life Tuesday afternoon, June 29, 2004, the result of a tractor accident near his home. At the time of his passing, Alan had attained the age of 59 years, 8 months & 24 days. He was united in marriage to Ruthy (Newlun) on February 5, 1965 in Cuba, IL. She survives. Other survivors include: His Father – Bert Conley of Cuba, IL; a Daughter – Sherri & Paul "Junior" Odum of Tunnel Hill, IL; a Son – Jim & Jamie Conley of Tunnel Hill, IL; 3 Grandchildren – Brooke Ellen Johnson, Alana Jo Odum & Brody James Conley; a Sister – Pat & Lynn Schwantes of Lancaster, KY; a Brother – Gail & Joanne Conley of Huntington, VT. Alan was employed by AMAX Coal Co. as a coal miner until his retirement in 2000. Locally, Alan was employed by the Vienna branch of the Southern F.S. (Farm Service). He enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, & working on his property. Alan especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Alan leaves his family & many friends to cherish his memory. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon, July 2, 2004, at 3 PM at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna, IL. Friends may call from 1 PM – 3 PM Friday at Bailey Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be conducted Saturday afternoon, July 3, 2004, at 3 PM at Cuba Cemetery in Cuba, IL. Memorials may be made to the Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, 1465 S. Grand Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63104. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
