|Birth: ||Sep. 2, 1830|
|Death: ||Oct. 14, 1919|
Elsie, daughter of Israel and Barbary Day born September 2 1830, departed this life October 14, 1919, aged 89 years, 1 month and 13 days. She was married to Daniel Conkey May 24, 1848 and by this union came six sons and three daughters, all living but one son, Charles, and one daughter, Susanna, who with father preceded mother some years ago.
In 1868, she with her husband united with the Church of Christ and she has ever been a true and faithful follower of her master, attending services until infirm age kept her away.
Grandma, as she was known, by all was always ready to greet you with a smile. She was faithful as wife and mother, kind and loving, making the home a paradise for all the family.
In her late illness, she was never known to complain and said to the writer, "I am only waiting for the Lord to call me home -- ready to depart and as the morning was dawning the beautiful spirit, without a struggle left the body, winging its way back to the Realms of the Blest" for the master said, "I go to prepare a place for you' I will come again and take you unto myself, that where I am you may be also."
For the past 10 years she was at home with her daughter, Elva, who has done all that was possible for loving, tender hands to do for mother, never leaving her - day nor night, but ever alert to the comfort of mother.
She leaves behind - one sister Marguette aged 80, who attended the funeral, seven children, grandchildren and many friends who will miss her, yet we say, "Thy will be done, Dear Lord, not ours."
Sleep on dear mother and take thy rest.
It was God who called and he knows best.
