Birth: 1805
Death: 1882

Husband of Ann Tanner Cone and son of Lewis Cone, Sr. and Pheriby Hurst Cone. He was born in North Carolina, and was the grandson of William Henry Cone and Elizabeth Morris of Martin County, North Carolina. He was the nephew of William Henry Cone, Jr. of Bulloch County, Ga. His father migrated to Washington County, Georgia around 1810 and died in Washington County. Along with his mother and brother, Lewis M. Cone, Jr., they ventured further south to the opening of South West Georgia around Thomas County, Georgia. With the creation of Florida, he and Lewis wound up in Jefferson County, Florida after the Georgia-Florida State Lines were settled. He was a farmer and a blacksmith, and known as a noted horseman, even in the Cival War. In the manner of the Old Coffee Road and the Magnolia Trail, Metcalf seems to be the key to the homestead as it has close proximity to Monticello in Jefferson County, Florida.
