Faith Bell Cone, 81, of Blue Ridge Acres, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.
Born July 3, 1919, in South Carolina, she was the daughter the late John Oscar and Frances Cooley Bell.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, James Gardiner, in 1987, and by her second husband, Russell Cone, in 1992.
She was a graduate of the University of Illinois in Chicago.
She had been employed by the Department of Defense in Washington, D.C. Earlier, she had been a school teacher in the Arlington, Va., school system.
She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Harpers Ferry.
She was a member of Blue Ridge Acres Club of Harpers Ferry and a former correspondent for the Spirit of Jefferson Newspaper in Charles Town, W.Va.
She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Hardy of Port Tobacco, Md.; three sons, Grayson Gardiner of Fort Pierce, Fla., James Gardiner of Manassas, Va. and John B. Gardiner of Annandale, Va.; and three stepdaughters, Linda Allen of East Lansing, Mich., Claire Robertson of Bloomington, Ind. and Carol Rose of Paris, France.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Welsh and Frances Bell, and a brother, John Bell.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church, 898 Washington St. in Harpers Ferry. The Revs. Jane Kempster and Victor Lawson will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
The family will receive friends Saturday at 4 p.m. at her home in Blue Ridge Acres.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 129, Rippon, WV 25441.
Arrangements are by Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home in Charles Town.
