St. Simons - Christine Cone, 78, died Monday at her residence on St. Simons Island. The native of Statesboro has been a resident of St. Simons for the past 35 years. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in history and social studies and a master's degree in counseling. She taught in Lyons and in Darien and served as a counselor at Glynn Middle School for many years before her retirement. She was a life member of Cassina Garden Club, and an associate member of the Mozart Society, a charter member of the Fidelis Epsilon Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and a longtime member of local and state education associations

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Everett Williams and Mrs. Alma Everett, both of Statesboro.

A memorial service was held Thursday, January 20, at 11 a.m. at Statesboro First Baptist Church. Burial was in Eastside Cemetery. Edo Miller & Sons, Inc., Brunswick, Ga.
