STATESBORO, Ga. — Mrs. Anne Woolridge Whittle Cone passed away peacefully Monday, December 10, 2012, at the Ogeechee Area Hospice Inpatient Facility. She was born in December of 1923 in Brunswick, Georgia. Anne attended public schools in Glynn County, graduating from Glynn Academy, and then attending and graduating from Georgia Women's College in Valdosta. She worked as a secretary in Brunswick and also in Statesboro before and after her marriage on August 14, 1949. Anne taught art to a group of young girls in her home. Anne also enjoyed crocheting, especially snowflakes, which she delighted in giving to family and also church bazaars. She also held a very special place in the hearts of all who knew her, especially her nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Statesboro First United Methodist Church, where she had served as a church secretary in the past. Anne was a member of the Archibald Bulloch Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents, Annie Louise Wooten Whittle and John Thomas Whittle Sr.; her sisters, Marie Wellslager, Ruth Cone; her brothers, John T. Whittle Jr. and William B. Whittle.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Edward Oliver Cone; one sister and brother-in-law, Ida Whittle Waters and Loy A. "Si" Waters Jr., all of Statesboro; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Swallum Whittle Sheehan of Macon and Betty Jean Snooks of Vidalia; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with the Rev. Jimmy Cason officiating. Interment will be in Eastside Cemetery. Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of the arrangements.
