Daughter of John N and Emma (Axtell) Compton. Grace married to and divorced from Harry Burns. Emma is not known to have had children.
"Grace Compton will be married at the home of her parents on Wednesday to Mr. Burns of Belmont." - The Sun, Alfred, NY. Sept 1907.
"Mrs. Grace Burns of Friendship, formerly of Wellsville, died in Cuba Memorial Hospital Tuesday, December 25, 1883, the daughter of John and Emma Axtell Compton.
She was a member of the Christian Temple Church and Eastern Star Chapter, both of Wellsville; the White Shrine of Hornell, and the Wellsville Business and Professional Women's Club. Mrs. Burns had been employed by the Rockwell Store in Wellsville for 40 years.
Survivors are one brother, Cleo Compton, of Friendship, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in the Cotton Funeral Home, Friendship, Friday. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Friendship." - The Belmont Dispatch, Thu Dec 30, 1965.
Named as beneficiaries in Grace's Will were, John and Betty Sue Compton; Leslie and Arline Newton; Lyn, Terri, Timothy and Daniel Bowker; Cleo Compton and his wife Margaret; Harold and Betty Bowker; Michael and Cecile Bermell; Hazel Compton; Howard and Phyllis Richardson; Nile Evangelical United Brethern Church, and Thea and Eva Oestrich.
