Born May 4, 1918, in Blairsville, PA, he served in the Marine Corps during WW II, where he was part of the initial landing on Guadalcanal. He later became branch commander of his local DAV chapter. Americo is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lena Como; sons, Richard Como of Arroyo Grande, CA, and Robert Como of Coto de Caza, CA; daughter, Edith Stanton of Liverpool, NY; sisters, Lena Bracci and Emma Lenn, both residing in Syracuse, NY; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Jacqualyn Palchak Cancer Fund, PO BOX 1614, Pismo Beach, CA, 93448
